Adding a Harbor

Step 1 - setting up the directory / xml files
- copy an existing harbor
- rename all the old stuff to whatever your new harbor name is
- edit the .xml and _ent.xml files and rename
Step 2 - prepare the .obj
- copy it from vship2000/datafiles/harbors into the new harbor directory
- edit it with maya somewhere
- view->camera attribute editor
- set far clip plane to 1000000
- f key -> fit
- re oriente
- select
- mesh tab -> right pane
- rotate x -> 90
- get a texture
- go to google maps
- find a satellite image of the area
- print screen
- paste into an image editor
- save as mayport.bmp
- attach the texture in maya
- select the harbor
- hold right
- material
- material attributes
- click on grid next to color
- click file button
- click folder tab in the right pane next to filename
- click file button
- click on grid next to color
- map uv coordinates
- select the mesh
- hold space
- Edit Polygons->Texture->Planar Mapping
- Window->UV Texture Editor
- If the model is not mapped correctly, redo the Planar Mapping, but this time select the dialog box and select either Y or Z to map to.
- hold space ([Mark] Node: You may want to do this before doing the UV mapping)
- polygon->cleanup
- polygon->reduce until polygons are reasonable
- export to obj
